Fields of application

In the building sector, simulation can be useful to validate or optimize the location of the air extractions or the different injections. Depending on the flow rates, temperatures, heating power or air conditioning, the CFD studies show us the reached levels of comfort.

Concerning the smoke-extraction system, fire simulations help to validate the relevance of options taken regarding the requirements.

With the CFD, it is also possible to study the building aerodynamic as well as the pressure efforts applied on structures exposed to wind.

Simulation data

The simulations allow to model VOCs and particles spread and convective phenomena by considering different parameters such as:

• The geometry of the rooms,
• The sizes, the flow rate and the location of air extractions,
• The location of heat or cooling sources,
• The position and the power of sun – with a complementary module - radiating through glass surfaces,
• Thermal parameters of the several materials used for the walls

For the smoke-extraction system, simulations take into account:

• Fire start place,
• System start time,
• Fire doors’ closing,
• Sprinklers’ locations
